Why motion matters in modern web

Motion is often treated as decoration. Used well, it is the opposite — it is information. The right animation tells a visitor what just happened, what is connected to what, and where to look next.

Motion as orientation

When an element slides in as you scroll, it signals relationship and sequence. When a card lifts on hover, it confirms it is interactive. These cues reduce the small moments of confusion that quietly cost attention.

The cost of too much

Motion has a budget. Animate everything and nothing stands out; the page feels restless and slow. The craft is knowing what not to move. A few deliberate transitions outperform a dozen competing ones.

Good motion is felt, not noticed. It should make a site easier to understand — never harder to use.
